Frank Gross lives in Toronto, Canada. Originally from South Africa, his career path includes having worked in commercial film as a director, and as an advertising / studio photographer.  Collaborating with talented colleagues, he produced award winning work on a number of print and film projects.

In recent years, after a lengthy hiatus from the world of commercial photography, Frank focuses on personal projects, informed by all of his life’s experiences and influences – the books, the movies, the artists, the places, the people. Life changing events brought new priorities, perspectives, and the development of a new ‘seeing’ to fruition.  Making the images is a cathartic process; an engagement with the world and a seeing of the self.  His commitment to the medium that provides this opportunity hasn’t faltered.

Frank's journey has allowed him to play in the fields of  portraiture, still life, landscape, street and conceptual photography and to move freely and comfortably between genres. He looks to future exploration driven by the same principle that has always guided him; a simple belief that if he photographs those things that touch his heart, he will in some way touch the hearts of those who view his work.
